What started as a dreamy evening in a wildflower field quickly turned into something straight out of a spooky rom-com… and honestly? I’m obsessed.
The Sweet Beginning
Abby and Shane’s engagement session began just as you might imagine: golden light cascading across petals, the two of them wrapped up in each other, dancing between rows of blooms, sharing kisses that made my camera blush. Their laughter was contagious, their energy so playful and deeply in love. I was already swooning.

Enter: Ghostface
And then things got… strange.
As they settled into a cozy picnic scene, blanket spread, cheese and fruit artfully arranged, champagne chilling nearby, a figure appeared in the distance. At first, just a blur in the background. I glanced at my camera screen and blinked. Was that…?
Yep. Ghostface.
Creeping ever so slowly, lurking behind wildflowers and drifting just out of view, our uninvited guest made his presence known one ominous step at a time. Abby and Shane, completely oblivious, giggled over strawberries and sipped sparkling wine while Ghostface loomed closer and closer. I kept shooting. Obviously.

Champagne and a Plot Twist
Just as he was about to strike…Abby popped the champagne. The cork went flying. Bubbles exploded into the air. And in a plot twist worthy of any cult classic horror flick… Ghostface froze.

And then?
He joined the party.

A Trio to Remember
What followed was pure magic. Ghostface, hand-in-hand with the lovebirds, skipping through the wildflowers. Dancing. Toasting. Taking turns posing like the third member of their engagement shoot. Reader, I howled.
It was spooky, silly, romantic, and perfectly absurd. I adored every minute.

Behind the Mask
A fun behind-the-scenes fact: Ghostface was none other than my husband, Justin, committing to the bit with full creepy flair. (Oscar-worthy performance, truly.)
Abby and Shane brought so much joy and imagination to this shoot, and I’m so grateful they were down for the surprise twist. It reminded me that love can be soft and cinematic and still full of the unexpected. Sometimes even a masked slasher needs a little romance.
Here’s to the Unexpected
Here’s to love, laughter, and champagne corks as your best defense.
Cheers to Abby, Shane, and their new bestie Ghostface. You three are iconic.
