The DMV is a strange geography to claim. Washington DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia. Three jurisdictions, hundreds of venues, millions of people. Every photographer in a 60-mile radius uses it.
Here's what I can tell you specifically: I'm based in Leesburg, Virginia. I photograph weddings regularly across Northern Virginia, into DC, and into Maryland. The venues listed below are ones I've actually shot at. The experience I have is real, not implied by a map radius.
I'm a preferred vendor at several of the DMV's most sought-after wedding venues. That's not a marketing line. It means I've worked alongside their coordinators, I know their timelines, and I'm not figuring out the light situation for the first time on your wedding day.
Historic Federal-style estate in downtown Leesburg. A preferred vendor venue for me. The conservatory, the gardens, the downtown location. this one is hard to beat for Loudoun couples who want something with real character.
Twenty-two acres, restored historic barn, preferred vendor status. Located in Leesburg, Virginia. Golden hour here in fall is the real thing.
Sixty acres in Clarke County. Full-service, beautiful grounds, one of the most photographable properties in the Shenandoah Valley foothills. Located in Berryville, Virginia
The barn venue on the same Historic Rosemont property. Rustic, distinctive, a different feel from the Manor.
Right in Leesburg, off Limestone School Road. Picturesque countryside feel without the long drive. The barn is modern and the natural light inside is generous. Great for couples who want that countryside aesthetic without asking their guests to travel an hour from DC.
Twenty-seven acres on the Potomac River, four miles from Old Town Alexandria. George Washington's original farmland, now the American Horticultural Society's headquarters. The garden ceremony spaces and the Potomac views make this one of the most distinctive venues in the DC area.
Off the banks of the Patapsco River in historic Elkridge, Maryland. A 1810 manor house on 16 acres, full-service with outstanding in-house catering. The grounds have a genuinely wild quality. river, gardens, mature trees. that photographs differently than any manicured venue I've worked at. It's been voted one of the most romantic settings in the country and I understand why.
A historic 1888 mansion on 26 acres bordered by the Monocacy River in Frederick, Maryland. Grand ballroom, wisteria-covered pergola, reflecting pool, outdoor riverside meadow. Less than an hour from DC and Baltimore, which makes it an ideal landing spot for couples with guests coming from multiple directions.
The thing about photographing weddings across DC, Maryland, and Virginia is that the venues are genuinely different from each other. not just in aesthetics but in how the days run. A full-service venue in Maryland like the Elkridge Furnace Inn operates differently from a blank-slate venue like River Farm. Knowing that going in means I spend the day making photographs instead of managing logistics I didn't anticipate.
I cap at 20 weddings per year. I bring a second shooter to every one. Documentary style throughout.
Where are you based?
Leesburg, Virginia, which puts me centrally between Northern Virginia, DC, and Maryland. Most venues I work at are within 60 to 90 minutes.
Do you charge travel fees?
For weddings outside my standard Loudoun County service area, travel fees apply. I'll always be upfront about what that looks like before you book.
How far in advance should I book?
For fall dates, 12 to 18 months is standard. I keep my calendar to 20 weddings, so popular dates fill earlier than you'd expect.
Do you bring a second shooter?
Yes, to every wedding. In the DMV especially, where venues often spread across large properties, two photographers means complete coverage.
What's included?
Second shooter, online gallery, full print rights, complimentary engagement session. Full details on the Experience page.
