Virginia is a state full of genuinely good places to get married. I'm based in the northern part of it, in Leesburg, which puts me close to the Shenandoah Valley, the DC suburbs, the Blue Ridge foothills, and the Chesapeake Bay corridor. I photograph weddings primarily in Northern Virginia and the surrounding region, and occasionally travel further into the state for couples whose venues call for it.
The venues below represent the range of where I've worked and what I know from experience.
I'm a preferred vendor at several of Virginia's most sought-after wedding venues. That's not a marketing line. It means I've worked alongside their coordinators, I know their timelines, and I'm not figuring out the light situation for the first time on your wedding day.
A Federal-style estate in the heart of historic downtown Leesburg, built in 1770. The conservatory light is unlike anything else in Loudoun County. I've shot weddings here multiple times and it still stops me every time the afternoon sun comes through those windows.
Twenty-two acres in southeastern Loudoun County, about 10 minutes from Leesburg. Restored historic barn, Something Blue Cottage for getting ready, golden hour fields that go on as long as the light holds. I'm a preferred vendor here and it's one of my favorite properties to photograph in any season.
Sixty acres in Berryville, just over the Clarke County line. Full-service, ceremony and reception in one place, overnight accommodations on site. The greenery and the manor house itself give you portrait options that most venues can't touch.
The barn venue on the Historic Rosemont property. A different feel from the Manor, more rustic, with its own set of portrait spots and indoor ceremony options that hold up beautifully when the weather doesn't cooperate.
Right in Leesburg, off Limestone School Road. Picturesque countryside feel without the long drive. The barn is modern and the natural light inside is generous. Great for couples who want that countryside aesthetic without asking their guests to travel an hour from DC.
Twenty-seven acres on the Potomac River in Alexandria. Originally part of George Washington's farmland, now one of the most distinctive garden venues in the state. The mix of formal gardens, open meadows, and river views gives portraits a quality that's hard to replicate anywhere else in Northern Virginia.
A 9,000-square-foot event venue on 14 acres in Williamsburg, just minutes from Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown. Grand hall with wood-burning fireplace, covered veranda, stone patio, two private dressing suites. The property sits in a Conservation Easement, which means those 14 acres of quiet, wooded landscape will stay exactly as they are. For couples who want a Virginia destination wedding without the all-inclusive price tag of a resort, this venue punches above its weight.
I photograph weddings the way a good documentary photographer covers anything that matters. by watching, anticipating, and staying out of the way until the moment calls for me to be somewhere specific. You won't spend your wedding day feeling directed. You'll spend it being present, and the photographs will reflect that.
I cap my calendar at 20 weddings per year and bring a second shooter to every one. It's how I make sure each couple gets work worth keeping.
Do you travel throughout Virginia?
I photograph weddings primarily in Northern Virginia, with regular work in DC and Maryland, and occasional travel further into Virginia for the right venues and couples. Williamsburg, the Shenandoah Valley, and Clarke County are all places I've shot and enjoyed.
Do you charge travel fees?
For weddings outside my standard service area, yes. I'll always be clear about what that looks like upfront.
How far in advance should I book?
For fall dates, 12 to 18 months. I cap at 20 weddings per year, so the calendar fills faster than most people expect.
What's included in your packages?
Second shooter, online gallery, full print rights, and a complimentary engagement session. Full package details are on my Experience page.
